The licenses I've seen were in two parts. The upper portion had blanks for the names of the bride and groom and authorized any minister of justice of the peace to perform the ceremony. The lower part had the same names and the name of the person who actually performed the ceremony. I'm not certain but I believe the licenses were issued in the county where the bride resided. ----- Original Message ----- From: <myvette84@springnet1.com> To: <gacherok@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, October 12, 2006 12:15 AM Subject: [GACHEROK] Early Georgia Marriages > In Cherokee County Georgia Marriages Book B, Grooms, they have John B > Banister married a Harriett E Paxton on Jan 24th 1854 ( B224) > Also a Newman Banister Married a Catherine Jackson on Sep 12, 1850 (B077) > Could someone tell me what information they gave on a Marriage Lic in > Georgia at that time. > Did they give the age of the person or any personal information ?
