Hiram Kelly & Elizabeth McGee were married in Burke North Carolina in August 1813, and moved their family to Georgia in the early 1820s. Hiram bought land in Habersham County, then Cherokee and Forsyth counties. Their daughter Mary (1814-1890) married Theron MONROE ., who was born in South Carolina. Was Theron related to Dugal and/or Jesse Monroe? Daughter Sarah (1817-188?) married Joshua C. ELLIS. Did he have family in Cherokee or Forsyth County? He sold land to William ELLIs were they related? Elizabeth Kelly (1819- 1876) married Thomas MONROE. They moved from GA to TN before 1870 and the to Washington County, AR? Thomas was son of Jesse Monroe. Was there a reationship to Theron Monroe? Joseph Kelly married Elizabeth Rebecca FRANCIS, but I have not found a marriage record. Elizabeth was the daughter of Thomas & Elizabeth (HOLLAND) Francis. The probate record of the Thomas Francis estate indicated postage to mail papers to Mrs Kelly in Arkansas. Benjamin Kelly (1822 -1884) married Susan Narcissa SARTOR, daughter of Johnson & Elmina (Roberts), Sartor. After Narcissa's death Benjamin married Mary Jane WALLACE, the widow of James Monroe CHATHAM, who was killed during the Civil War. Andrew J. Kelly (1825-1906) married Julia Eloise HOLBROOK, (daughter of Samuel & Hanna (WILSON) HOLBROOK) died in 1866. Andrew then married Arabella LEDBETTER (daughter of Johnson & Nancy (WHITESIDES) Ledbetter). About 1850, Ruth Kelly (circa 1832 -?) married her brother's brother-in-law, William P HOLBROOK. Jesse R. KELLY (1833 -1897) 21 Jan 1854 Jesse married Elizabeth A, RICHARDS, who was born 9 Oct 1835 in South Carolina. J. R. Kelly graduated from Atlanta Medical School in 1859. Elizabeth (McGEE) KELLY died in the early 1840s. Hiram married a second time to Malinda ANDERSON. The 16 Jul 1845 marriage is recorded in Lumpkin County. Three daughters were born before 1850. Hiram, Malinda, their daughters, Joseph and daughter Sarah, their spouses and children moved to northwest Arkansas in the late 1850's. It is not known if Dr. Kelly and is family moved with the other family members or followed. Hiram, Joseph, & Jesse obtained property in Madison County before th 160 Census. Sarah and her husband found property in Washington county AR. Hiram died in 1862. Joseph was killed by bushwackers in 1863. Oral history indicates Jesse took the families to TX during the Civil War. There is no indication where in Texas. Elizabeth & Thomas Monroe were in TN in 1870, the moved to AR. They were there a short period of time before Elizabeth died. There are still pieces of the puzzle missing. I'd like fo find those pieces and connect with any of the Kelly. I am especially interested in identifying the parents of Joshua C. ELLIS. The only clue I have is a land exchange with William ELLIS prior to moving to AR. Jonelle ELLIS Russell
I have an Adeline E. Maddox, born in January 1849 who was living with the George Washington McCollum and Margaret R. Thompson McCollum family until her marriage to John A. Gunter on January 2, 1868. I've never been able to figure out a McCollum-Maddox connection, but the McCollums were in Cherokee County by the 1840 census. George was born about 1810 in the Old Pendleton District of South Carolina. When George died in the mid-1850s the administrators of his estate were James A. Maddox and George W. Cook. George's wife, Margaret, lived out her life with Adeline and her husband, John Gunter. Any possible link to your Maddoxes? W. I'm looking for my families with the above surnames. My gg grandmother, Frances (ROBERTS) PUCKETT was said to have gone to Cherokee Co. AL after 1870 along with her son, James Tillero PUCKETT & his w/Eliza Clementine (DUKE). Two other sons were married to FULLERS. The sons went on to Upshsur Co. TX. Other surnames in this family were: HOGAN, HEMBREE, BARBER (my line), DUNKIN, GRUBBS & HARRIS. These folks were originally from Coweta Co. GA where my gg grandparents, Andrew Jackson PUCKETT & Frances ROBERTS were married in 1837. Other children of this couple went to Columbia Co. AR. There were also ties to other eastern AL counties. I have been trying for years to find the parents of Andrew & Frances but none of the families in GA with these surnames have them in their tree. There was a John & Dorcas Puckett in Cherokee Co. at the time my group went there & I would appreciate any info on them as well. Thank you very much for any help. Diane Puckett Ethridge Conroe, TX

Flora, delighted to hear from you. I am the grandaughter of Theodore Augustus Johnson, great grandaughter of Elizabeth Covington Johnson, who was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Hill Covington. I am fairly new to genealogy, no one else in my family is doing any research and all I have to go on is my recollections of what I was told by my father and grandfather and what I have learned from the census records, and the Cherokee Co. marriage record of my great grandparents Jesse A. Johnson and Elizabeth Covington. Can't recall where the info came from but the cemetery record is where I learned that Hill was Elizabeth's family name and that she is buried in the Promised Land cemetery in northern Marion Co. AR. I grew up knowing about 'Uncle Mose' Coventon from my father and grandfather, and have found him in the AL census as well as CSA service in an AL unit. Other than 'Uncle Mose', I know nothing of the siblings of Elizabeth Covington Johnson, known to all of us in the family, her grandchildren and great grandchildren as 'Grandma Johnson'. My beloved Grandpa, T.A. Johnson, left GA in 1878 and always wanted to come back, perhaps that is why I moved to GA in 1995. I am eager to heari further from you and I will be most happy to share all of what little info I have. Hi, I am still seeking information about the family of Thomas G. Johnson and wife Mary C. Christian Johnson. I'm still here, trying to find information about the James A. Price family (Cherokee County) - late 1800's - early 1900's and his wife (My grandmother) Rebecca Carnes. I would be happy to find out anything I can about their descendants (uncles and cousins who I have lost touch with) as well as their ancestors. James A passed away in 1964 in Atlanta, and Rebecca passed away in Atlanta a few years later. I was in touch with a lady via email named Paula I believe. She was a distant cousin on the Carnes side. Since my hard drive crash I have lost a lot of information relevant to her and our relatives in common. If anyone knows anything about the Price-Carnes family and would be willing to share it I would appreciate it. Thanks, John John M.
