Shelby, An added note: On the 1850, Trion District, Chattooga Co., GA Federal Census there were several DORSETT families living near our BROWN family. On this 1850 census both William Brown and Thomas Dorsett were enumerated with their families; HOWEVER, on the Guntersville, Marshall Co., AL 1860 Census (where the BROWN and DORSETTS were only one enumerating number apart) they were both missing and Elizabeth BROWN was the head of household for her family and Mary DORSETT was the head of household for her family. Like I said before,James A (oldest BROWN son) and Mary (oldest Mary DORSETT daughter) get married and a few weeks later James goes off to fight for the South in the Civil War. Further, on the land records for Marshall Co., AL in the Mill Creek area are listed THOMAS DORSETT and WILLIAM P BROWN each followed by 1860 (all the other listings on this page showed complete dates). Interestingly, on the 1850, Trion District, Chattooga Co., GA Federal Census everyone is listed except Margaret BROWN who shows up as 10 years old on the 1860 Census and being born in GA. SO Elizabeth must have had Margaret after the 1850 Census was taken and she probably was born in the year 1850. NOW, on the LAND RECORDS of Marshall Co., AL only the year 1860 appears for both Thomas Dorsett and William P Brown; which could mean they both purchased the land before passing away (if that is what happened) or they went somewhere-----------war, or ?---------whatever happened to them they could have been together-------------------Could they both have been killed or left before leaving Chattooga Co., GA and their wives/children bought this property under some plan or other in Marshall Co., AL in 1860 where their names DO NOT appear on the 1860 Census with their families? Did something terrible happen in Trion District, Chattooga Co., GA around that time (1850-1860)? We have not been able to find a burial site for Thomas Dorsett his wife Mary or William P Brown and his wife Elizabeth. Does anything here fit into anything you know? Chocy
