Kinchen Rambo Foster was born in Gwinnett Co, GA and married Malissa Mayo ( her father Micajah Mayo-of the Floyd Co, Bar Lock- Dam). They founded the community of Foster's Store, GA outside of Lyerly. K. R. served with gallantry in the Civil War and returned home to make a success of his life after serving time in a POW camp for nine months. He was one of the most prosperous plantation owner's in Chattooga Co. Growing strawberries, tobacco, clover, and raising mules. He and Malissa had 14 children and buried 8 of them before their own deaths. Malissa grew up in Floyd Co and wrote her life story in the Atlanta Journal" Sunny South". She was the President of the Epworth Women's Missionary Society in Lyerly. They are both buried in the cemetary in Lyerly, GA. This family was one of the founding families of the Oak Hill Methodist church. A couple of years ago, I made a trip to their original planatation. The kind people of Chattooga Co, GA and Lyerly made us feel so welcome and my hat is off to such a warm community.....
