    1. [GACHATTO] Obituaries from Summerville News for Cicero & Elizabeth McLeod

    3. Could anyone tell me the best way to get copies of two obituaries that might have been in The Summerville News? My husband's grandparents lived and died in Summerville and I'd like to get copies of their obituaries. Cicero McLeod died February 27, 1963 and his wife Elizabeth Rebecca Cochran McLeod(Lizzie) died June 3, 1966. Elizabeth Rebecca was born in Gordon Co., GA February 5, 1887, the daughter of William Cochran and Lucenda Shelhorse. She married Cicero McLeod in Pickens Co. November 25, 1909. Cicero McLeod was born August 24, 1882. I know absolutely nothing about his background. I don't think he was from Pickens Co. because I can't find any record of him there. Pickens Co. is only a few miles from where the Cochrans lived. I don't know what ties Cicero has with that area though. The married couple went to Henagar Alabama (Dekalb Co.) and started a family. Their children were: Geneva, Arvil, Autrell, Ruby & Opal Clara b. 1919. I don't know any dates of birth for the siblings of Opal. Opal told my husband that she met her husband, Wallace Curtis Brooks in Trion. They were married in 1938 so I would assume that the McLeod family had moved to the area before 1938. My husband's 3 older siblings were born in Trion. Then he was born in Lafayette when the Brooks family moved there. I would appreciate any additional information on this family. My husband has wonderful memories of both Cicero & Elizabeth. He spent many summers with them on their farm. I'd like to help him find out more about them. 3. The library in Summerville has some of the Summerville News on microfilm. I would suggest that a letter to them may get you what you are seeking. I have always found them to be most helpful.
