E Foster was born in 1874 Chattooga Co, GA the son of Capt Kinchen Rambo and Malissa Mayo Foster of Foster's Store. He was raised as a Methodist and committed his life to the Lord early in his life. He was raised in the community and when he was 19, he fell madly in love with a 32 yr old woman. He went to his father for approval of this marriage and K R Foster sent him out west to TX. He wanted him to oversee lands along the Concho River that he had traded for "sight unseen". The exchange involved a vineyard in GA. His sister Carrie Adeline Foster wrote: "with a thousand miles between them, his love for the woman vanished like morning mist." Eugene met Bessie Arthur who was a schoolteacher and an "Alabama Belle." He proposed to her on the bridge over Dove Creek in Tom Green Co, TX and she accepted. This family proceeded to buy up land in Tom Green Co. TX, sometimes as low as 75 cents per acre until they had a sum total of a 900 acre West TX plantation. He farmed and ran a dairy. He served as Sunday School Supt. in the church his family founded for a great number of yrs and also served as County Commissioner in Tom Green Co, TX. He was involved in a great many activites in the community and was responsible for many of the paved roads in the county. Our family is very thankful for Papa Foster's accomplishments . Michelle Doss- his ggggrandddaughter.
