Posted on: Chattooga Co. Ga Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Chattooga/10415 Surname: JACKSON, CATLETT ------------------------- My g-grandfather Andrew Martin Jackson settled in Chattooga Co. from Banks County about 1841. Andrew's Uncle Samuel died in 1860. Your query about Thomas and Mary. Thomas is located on farm next to Samuel on the census years you mentioned and about three farms down from Andrew. Samuel drew a prize in land lottery in Cherokee (Chattooga )about 1832. Samuel, Thomas and Andrew all migrated from Banks to Chattooga Co. But I, like you have never seen anyone finding further information on Thomas and family after about 1850. After Samuel's death in 1860 he left estate to Andrew and a nephew John Jackson. I feel very strongly that Thomas was related to Samuel and Andrew but never could connect them in any manner. But it is like Thomas' family disappeared off the face of the earth. Will keep you in mind if I locate anything on Thomas and Mary.

My ancestor was Daniel M. Harris, married to Martha Jane White, I think. They had 13 children who were all born in Chattooga Co. GA according to the LDS record where I got the information. This was between the years 1831 and 1855. She died in 1866 and I believe he remarried, but not sure about that. Have not been able to find anything on either parent other than that they were both born in SC, he in 1807, she in 1812. They are both buried in Coosa Co. AL Could he have been a brother to your John Ewing?
