    3. Anne: Just so you will know that I do not have the manners of a hog, let me tell you why I have been so long in answering and thanking you for the Baker marriages. I had a light stroke (no lasting affects, as far as I can tell) and then had my arteries in my neck reemed out. Had the operation two weeks ago today but did not bounce back as fast as I would like. My brother said, " Of course not, damn you are old." Anyway I am getting stronger each day and am trying to get some genealogy done and some letters answered. Thank you for the Baker marriages. There are several that I know are mine and several that I am checking out. My delay in thanking you had nothing to do with my gratitude. Thanks again, Paul R.L. Vance

    1. [GACHATTO] Elllis Island Searches
    2. Ken Johnson
    3. This makes things a lot easier for Ellis Island searches. (courtesy of Stephen Morse). The Ellis Island (AHC) should have done this themselves. It allows you to make the initial search on a minimum of one letter in the last name, and on various options for gender, age at arrival, year of arrival, boat name, ethnicity, and port of departure. By using it you avoid having to wait until you receive the results of your initial global search to edit the search criteria with more narrow limits. Click here: http://sites.netscape.net/stephenpmorse/ellis.html and don't forget to send Stephen Morse a note of thanks. According to the phone book Charles Jones lives on Tennessee St. I'm not sure where. It may be next to the house. The house does not appear to be lived in, but it looks to be in pretty good shape for as old as it probably is. Would you like Mr. Jones' phone number? I didn't know if you wanted to call him or not. If you want me to, I could call him, if you'll tell me what you need to know. I go to Lyerly almost every day to pick up my mail. I only live about four miles from there.Let me know if I can be of any more help to you. Charlotte

Penn's Chapel is now the First Baptist Church of Trion. Robert Baker's book about the history of Chattooga County says that "Divine Hands drew the little band of people together in 1844 in a grove of trees near the old Trion Cemetery to break ground..." Hope this helps :) Mary

    1. [GACHATTO] WILLIAM P BROWN GRAVESITE
    2. We are looking for the gravesite of William P. BROWN. Last known place he was found was on the Trion District, Chattooga County, Georgia 1850 Federal Census with his family, wife: Elizabeth, children: James, Gilford Hutchs(on), John Henry M, Michael, Samantha, Sarah, and Margaret. We found this same family WITHOUT William P BROWN on the Guntersville, Marshall County, Alabama 1860 Federal Census. We also found the DORSETT family as neighbors on the 1850 Census in Georgia and again on the 1860 in Alabama. The DORSETT family on the 1860 Alabama Census was also without their father Thomas DORSETT. Would be interested in finding a gravesite for borth Thomas DORSETT and William P BROWN.
