John died in 1849 in california during the gold rush. They had two sons, one of them was John Walton fitts who married Dorcus Tabitha Jane Bedingfield and had eight childeren.

In the April 26,2001 edition of The Summerville News, a book with a complete lising of people buried in Johnson Cemetery was presented to the Chattooga County Library by Branson Gayler of Rome. The book is at the Summerville branch of the library. I have relatives buried there including my parents, William Doyle and Beatrice Kathleen Clowdis Noles. My maternal grandparents William David and Emily Elizabeth Huckaby Clowdis are also buried there. As well as, my grandmother's parents the Huckabys. I remember as a child going to the cemetery and seeing a dilapadated old building whether it was a church building or a chapel of sorts for funerals I do not remember. It was torn down and the area where it stood is now gravesites. Some of the family names that I can recall are the Wades(in the older section of the cemetery), Drakes, Busbins, Dotsons, Sims, Rutledge, Cook, White, Floyd (Henry and Effie once ran a store at the cross-roads in Chattoogaville), Thomas,Rodgers, and Ratliff to name a few that I can remember off-hand. Using the handwritten history, the expert help of Betty Jean Foster Dill, the Spartanburg Library and various Archives we have discovered the following: William Foster b. ca. 1770-1780 probably VA married Nancy Young (daughter of John Young, Sr. and Frances Margaret Wood) in Spartanburg, SC ca 1800+.  Children were: Isham Foster William W. Foster Moses Foster Ezekiel Foster moved to NW GA John Young Foster m. Mary Ann Nichols moved to NW GA Issaic Foster James Young Foster* m. Martha Wade Booker 1st child William Booker Foster b. Spartanburg, SC 9/5/1846 moved to NW GA Eliza Foster m. Elias Wall remained in Spartanburg, SC Frances Foster m. William Wilkins remained in Spartanburg, SC Sarah Foster, moved to NW GA Real Estate papers show he owned 225 acres on the South Pacolet bounded by Pacolet Moses Foster, Daniel White and perhaps others.  The acreage was sold in 1843 to settle the estate. The Spartanburg Library INDEX shows him as William PACK Foster.  There is no mention of "PACK" in the real estate papers.  One document on the back shows: "William Foster, deceased, (P)". I would like to know (1) if indeed the name is William PACK Foster, the origin of the middle name and (2) who are the parents of this William Foster. I have the indexes. On the index I find an A. J. Ford married to Louisa Babb. I don't know if this helps. I will be putting the entire list of marriage records on the Chattooga Co. Website in the next month.

There is no Ford listed in the 1870 census index for Chattooga County.
