    1. [GACHATTO] Re: Andrew Jackson Ford family
    2. Buddy--we have not corresponded in a while. I was glad to see your post. As you know, you and I are related a couple of ways. I assume you know this but I will put it in writing in case not: Andrew Jackson Ford was the son of John B. Ford (have you been to his grave?--it's in a pasture in the woods) and Docia Winkle. He was the brother of Catherine Ford Jennings, among other siblings. Catherine was the adoptive mother of my gr-gr-grandfather Robert Gentry. The Fords married in NC and moved to GA. Nancy Jane Cherry was the daughter of William Anderson Cherry and his wife Elizabeth Tucker. The Cherrys and the Tuckers were from Lincoln Co., NC. Nancy Jane was the sister of my gr-gr-gr-grandfather William Cherry (who was the father of Robert Gentry). This family is all buried at Macedonia as far as I know. Sarah Strickland was, of course, the daughter of Lazarus and Lucinda Potts Strickland. Lazarus was brother of my gr-gr-grandfather Andrew Jackson Strickland, whose first wife was Eliza Potts, sister of Lucinda. Lazarus & Lucinda are said to be buried at the Chelsea Cemetery--there are no markers for them. We believe Lazarus Strickland was a son of Simon Strickland, still lack concrete proof. Lucinda and Eliza Potts were daughters of Josiah and Sarah Graves Potts of the Iredelle/Rowan Co., NC area. I think you and I determined that your Johnsons and mine were two different branches. Look forward to hearing from you. Let me know if you have questions. Steve Strickland, 1039 Seven Springs Circle, Marietta, GA 30068

    1. [GACHATTO] Robert Mooney, Sarah Abrams
    2. My father was Charles F. Mooney, b. 1900 and a son of Robert and Sarah (Sallie) Mooney. He died when I was nine, so I have never been able to find information about earlier generations. My father was born in Bartow County, but he stated on legal records that his father was from Chattooga County. Any help on this family would be greatly appreciated. Pat McCollum

    2. Paula, I am also researching Solomon Bennett and his line. My husband is descended from Hiram, who died in the Civil War. I would like to know where Hiram is buried and also more information about Lucretia Baker, his wife. She apparently married two additional times, but I can't find records of the marriages. She is buried at Wax Cemetery by herself--I don't know what this means. I would love to hear from you. Pat McCollum

    3. Looking for info on Ellen (Ella) McJunkin died December 12, 1940 & is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery next to Oak Hill Methodist Church near Lyerly, Georgia. I don't believe she has a marker and am wondering if anybody is familiar with this cemetery or Church that might know her burial location. She was living with her son & daughter in law, Edward Glendon & Annie Ferguson, at time of death and they lived in the area. Thanks Donald Blevins

    2. Marcia A Wade
    3. The Joseph Glenn I have information on was born Feb. 20, 1829, son of Thomas Anderson Glenn and Ann Glenn and was born on Hog Mountain in Gwinnett Co., Ga. He was married to Martha Elizabeth Thomason, sister to my great grandmother Ann P. Thomason. These Glenns lived in Chattooga Co. GA and for awhile in Tilton, GA (Whitfield Co.,). One of their children Robert Toombs Glenn was born in the house of Col. Jesse A. Glenn (according to the family Bible). My grandfather, Frank Thomason was raised by his uncle, Joseph Glenn , and his aunt Martha Glenn. Ann came to live with the Glenns when her first child was born (she was unmarried) and continued to live with them until my Grandfather was born. It is a great mystery what happened to her--by some reports she died when my grandfather was born. I have done alittle research on the Glenn family as it relates to my Thomason line and because I am interested in the people who raised my grandfather. I have a great curiosity about Joseph Glenn and would love to know what sort of man he was. I know that he was a lawyer. Let me know if you have any further info on Joseph. I do have copies of a family Bible with info about Joseph and his children if you are interested in descendencies. 2. Soc Sec app requests up from $7.00 to $27.00-effective 1 July 2001 This is one of our most valuable sources for genealogical information. With this unreasonable price increase many of us on fixed incomes will no longer be able to persue this avenue of our research. First the huge NARA record price increase, now this one. Are these absurd, huge, but evidently legal, price increases being used to discourage the use of the Freedom of Information Act? I wonder if it would do any good to write to our Congressman? Carol V http://www.ssa.gov/foia/foia_guide.htm#_Toc517745431 <http://www.ssa.gov/foia/foia_guide.htm#_Toc517745431> A small portion of a long article taken from the SSA webpage: "Fee Schedule For Frequently Requested Records Requests for records of Social Security number (SSN) holders, claimants and wage earners, are covered by a separate fee schedule. This fee schedule is based on the full cost of processing the request. We use an average fee for some frequently requested records. We are increasing some of these fees beginning July 1, 2001 (see chart below). We analyzed the costs for providing these records and services; and we computed the new fees on that basis. These fees were last increased in 1988, so some of the increases are substantial. Fees For Processing Requests For Individual’s Social Security Record Effective July 1, 2001 Request for copy of Original Application for Social Security Card (Form SS-5), SSN Provided $27 Request for copy of Original Application for Social Security Card (Form SS-5), SSN Not Provided $29 Request for Computer Extract of Social Security Number Application, SSN Provided $16 Request for Computer Extract of Social Security Number Application, SSN Not Provided $18 Search for Information about Death of an Individual, SSN Provided $16 Search for Information about Death of an Individual, SSN Not Provided $18 "
