Who is Allison McLeod Foster d. 1935 in Chattooga Co, GA Lyerly cem???Shelby
Chocy, This is Shelby. I emailed you on Genforum and asked if my Minerva Brown of Marshall Co, Al was in your line? I am researching FOSTER's in Chattooga Co GA and noticed your message. There are 3 Brown families in the book by Bob Baker. Whatcha got???? Shelby
Ayesa, Do you know anything about a Minnie Cleghorn? Shelby
Thank you for your help. We had suspected they were from Va because Charle's wife was from Va Jenny
There are some Dorsetts buried at Perennial Springs Cemetery. There is John R. Dorsett, Harriet Harlow Dorsett and Louisa Dorsett Sewell Echols buried there. I believe the Dorsetts resided in the community of Perennial Springs. Charlotte
We are desperately looking for more information on the family of William Brown b:ca 1805; SC and his wife Elizabeth b: ca 1804;SC. Their children (we found them on the 1850 Federal Census for Trion District,Chattooga County,Georgia) were: James A,Gilford "Hutchins(on)",John "Henry" M,Michael C.,Sarah,Samantha, and Margaret/Maragrett. James A was born ca 1834 probably in Gwinnett Co., GA and the rest of the children were probably all born there too, EXCEPT Margaret who had to have been born in Chattooga Co., GA. We found a William P BROWN married to an Elizabeth ENSLEY in Union Co., Georgia in 1834. That would fit into James A's birthday which was probably in October of 1834. The DORSETT family lived in the same neighborhood as the BROWNs in Chattooga County, GA and in the 1860 Federal Census for Guntersville, Marshall Co., Alabama they also were enumerated right next door. The heads of household were also born in South Carolina (could have been Spartanburg area). WE ARE DESPERATE and think that the BROWN family may have been moving along with the DORSETT and possibly the ENSLEY family. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Chocy Brown
Hello Dorothy, I am not personally researching the SHROPSHIRE line but have a few Shropshire cousins that still live in Summerville. My lines are ADAMS, ROUNSAVILLE, and CLEGHORN of Trion, Summerville, and possibly Broom Town. Some of my ancestors were buried in Pennville Cemetary which I understand is north of Summerville, near Trion off of Highway 27. Please email me off-list regarding more information. The Dodds were from Va and Union Co SC. SD
p. 83 talks about Mr Finley in the community of Holland. SD
p 422 & 423 of Bob Baker's book has a section on Wesley Schropshire's beliefs in education he held for his slaves. He allowed them to educate themselves in a school on the plantation. And he was visited by the clan for this. Shelby
I would appreciate anything you would share about the William Dodd family. Some of the specifics I would like to know if possible is where did they come from. Do any of them have the following given names? John,Henry,Sylvester, Permelia,Ellender,Mary Elizabeth,Martha Jane,Charles,Edmund,James ,Ansel,Willis,Nathan. I actually descend from 2 Dodd lines one started out in Pa in 1707 with a William as the head of the family. The other line I don't which family he belongs in,but they both lived in Ga for awhile and then moved to Al,Ms Tx. Thank you Jenny
No Thomas, but the William Dodd family has a section. Shelby
Hi Would you please check and see if there is any mention of a Dodd family or a Thomas family in the book Thank you Jenny
There were also two Wesley Schropshires and their home was destroyed by fire in 1987. A picture of it is in Bob Baker's book. Shelby
Sam Finley's slaves are said to have made the brick for the home. Shelby
The Samuel Finley home still stands in Chattooga today and is lived in. Shelby
Who owns this mountain now? Thx Shelby
