    2. As a matter of fact, there are some Browns who live in this community. I don't know if there is a connection, they haven't been here too long, as in long, long ago. Charlotte

    2. No, really it is nowhere near Trion. It is west of Summerville. I don't know if there is a connection. I just noticed the name Dorsett and thought I'd let you know about the Dorsetts in this community at that time. Charlotte

    3. Both my g-g-granddad, John Cobb, and his son, John Walter Cobb were listed on the 1900 census for Chattooga County. They were listed as miners and lived in the Seminole District. Does anyone have a clue as to just what mine they may have been working in and if there were any little mining towns in the Seminole District in which they might have lived? Sure would appreciate any info. Cindy up here in Michigan

    2. Shelby, I can tell you for a fact there are at least three seperate BROWN families in Northern Alabama (Marshall, Morgan, Blount, and Cullman Co.) Our William P Brown family have members in all the counties. I will keep a look out for your BROWN. I have had to collect parts of other BROWN families in the area in order to keep our BROWN family straight. Having a BROWN to research is quite interesting because it seems they all like the same first names! Chocy

    2. Chocy, The Brown line is new to me. My husband's Minerva Brown m. James Porter Doss. I am looking for Minerva's daddy. I believe she was born in Marshall Co, AL. I haven't been able to obtain any Brown family census info from Marshall Co yet. I noticed in 1900 index there were numerous families. Minerva had her first child in 1867 and her children were General Buford, James Martin"Mart", Rueben, Mrytle, and Cain. her husband served in the Civil War. Shelby

    1. Re: [GACHATTO] ENSLEY/DORSETT
    2. Shelby, An added note: On the 1850, Trion District, Chattooga Co., GA Federal Census there were several DORSETT families living near our BROWN family. On this 1850 census both William Brown and Thomas Dorsett were enumerated with their families; HOWEVER, on the Guntersville, Marshall Co., AL 1860 Census (where the BROWN and DORSETTS were only one enumerating number apart) they were both missing and Elizabeth BROWN was the head of household for her family and Mary DORSETT was the head of household for her family. Like I said before,James A (oldest BROWN son) and Mary (oldest Mary DORSETT daughter) get married and a few weeks later James goes off to fight for the South in the Civil War. Further, on the land records for Marshall Co., AL in the Mill Creek area are listed THOMAS DORSETT and WILLIAM P BROWN each followed by 1860 (all the other listings on this page showed complete dates). Interestingly, on the 1850, Trion District, Chattooga Co., GA Federal Census everyone is listed except Margaret BROWN who shows up as 10 years old on the 1860 Census and being born in GA. SO Elizabeth must have had Margaret after the 1850 Census was taken and she probably was born in the year 1850. NOW, on the LAND RECORDS of Marshall Co., AL only the year 1860 appears for both Thomas Dorsett and William P Brown; which could mean they both purchased the land before passing away (if that is what happened) or they went somewhere-----------war, or ?---------whatever happened to them they could have been together-------------------Could they both have been killed or left before leaving Chattooga Co., GA and their wives/children bought this property under some plan or other in Marshall Co., AL in 1860 where their names DO NOT appear on the 1860 Census with their families? Did something terrible happen in Trion District, Chattooga Co., GA around that time (1850-1860)? We have not been able to find a burial site for Thomas Dorsett his wife Mary or William P Brown and his wife Elizabeth. Does anything here fit into anything you know? Chocy
