    1. [GACHATTA] Blythe & Fielder Families in Chattahoochee County
    2. Hello, I am researching two families who lived in Chattahoochee County area in the late 1800's. William Pinkney Fielder (2/4/1826-6/1/1889), and his wife Susan McLaughlin Fielder (2/20/1829-1/13/1903). Their children: William Alonza Fielder 1853-1919 Marcus Terrell Fielder 10/30/1856-7/11/1931 L. Frank Fielder 11/2/1858-10/18/1898 Joseph Fielder 11/2/1861-10/20/1911 Mattie Fielder Blythe 11/1867-1/1/1909 Lucius Pinkney Fielder 9/24/1868-4/11/1954 Susie Fielder Hart 4/16/1871-12/29/1924 The first time that I've been able to locate the Fielder family is a Deed dated December 18, 1869, between George Jones and William Fielder. The 1870 Census states that William was a Farmer and a Miller. This census shows three employees listed as living with the family, two farm laborers and one individual working in the sawmill. Later in the 1880 Census, his children were listed as working on the farm with their father. The Fielders were members of the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and William was the Clerk of the Church. The area that the Fielder family lived in is now part of Ft. Benning. Mt. Zion Church was destroyed and all that is left is the cemetery. The Fielder family is buried at this cemetery. William Robert Blythe (July 1854-10/25/1923) married Mattie Fielder on 2/16/1890 in Chattahoochee County. They had four children: Susie Clyde Blythe Layfield 12/11/1890-10/10/1393 Robert Pinkney Blythe 5/25/1893-12/4/1937 Evans Alonza Blythe 2/24/1896-8/28/1942 Thelma Blythe 1/1898-1901 William R. Blythe also had an older son, William A. Blythe (12/27/1878-6/28/1943), from a previous marriage. If anyone is researching the Fielder or Blythe families, or has any information about them, I would like to correspond with you. Right now I'm trying to find out where William Pinkney Fielder and Susan McLaughlin were married and when they moved to the Chattahoochee County area. I am also trying to find out additional information regarding William Blythe's parents and information on his first wife, whom I believe was named Emma. Thank you, Carla
