Peter, My GG Grandparents are buried in the "old section" of the Catholic Cemetery. They also have no headstones. I was told by my grandfather, that allot of those headstones were moved or stolen. He remembers when he was young going out and cleaning the tombstones out there. My GG Garndparents at one time had headstones, but who knows what happened. They were from Ireland also. Thomas Welsh and Lizzie Ellen Welsh, who married in Savannah,GA in 1890. Her last name was Murphy. If Welsh or Murphy is in your Irish lines let me know. I go out to the Catholic Cemetery at leat once a week, can look up a headstone with digital pic. if you would like. Patrick, Thanks for your message, yes I would be most grateful if you would look up a grave for me. It is the grave of Michael Berrigan, who died on 25th June 1886. He was born in Kilkenny Ireland. I am trying to connect him with my ggfather, who was transported from Ireland to Australia in 1853. Of course I would be interested to know of any transcription on a stone, my particular interest is to identify his parents. The Diocese of Savannah have provided all the certificates that they have, unfortunately the marriage certificate did not have his parents names. He is buried at Section E, SINGLE GRAVE,4TH RANGE NO 20. MAGNOLIA DIVISION, CATHEDRAL CEMETERY. At times the name was spelt Bergin, Bergen ,Berrigan, the last being on the burial certificate. Many thanks, Peter. -----Original Message----- From: stock5472@cs.com [mailto:stock5472@cs.com] Sent: Tuesday, 14 January 2003 4:15 AM To: GACHATHA-L@rootsweb.com Subject: RE: [GACHATHAM] Savannah Cemeteries Peter, My GG Grandparents are buried in the "old section" of the Catholic Cemetery.
