Have been trying to locate family in Savannah, which was thought to be birth place of my father, Joe Foster EDMONDS, in 1902. There is no record of his birth there. Recently received email from a gentleman who served with him defending Bataan during WWII. He had a copy of the Marine roster and St. Simons was listed for my father. Perhaps he was born there. Would it have been natural for those from St. Simons to just say Savannah? Have found it's in Glenn County (correct?). Would anyone know where I should go from here?
