Hi Peter, The information that I have is fromThe Book of Marriages of Chatham County, Vol II, 1852 - 1857. On page 26 it shows that GETZ, John married Elleonorra MEYGAND on 16 February 1854 by A. J. Karn. From the way it is pronounced Meygand and Wiegand sound enough alike to be misspelled. Was Elleonorra and Laura the same person ??? Also in the 1860 Census of Chatham County it shows: GETZ, John 33 M Boot and Shoemaker Bavaria Germany Elleonorra 26 F " Henry 5 M Savannah Georgia Louisa 4 F " Emma 2 F " In the 1860 Census there are no MEYGANDS but there are WEIGANDS: WEIGAND, Conrad 27 M Boardinghouse Keeper Bavaria Germany Savannah Hotel " Anna 23 F " Conrad 3 M Savannah Georgia Anna 9/12 F " WEIGAND, Peter 44 M Carpenter Bavaria Germany Mary 38 F " Mary 18 F " Margaret 16 F " Joseph 14 M " Emma 9 F " Anna 7 F " Adam M 3/12 M " Back to the marriage book: It shows: HEINSLER, Henry married Miss Emma Getz on 21 September 1875 by A. M. Wynn M.G. She would have been 17. SAWYER, William married Louisa Ambrose on 113 April 1854 by A. J. Karn. AMBROSE, Louis married MRS. MARY Brannan on 5 June 1871. Hope some of this will help....Joe Wilharm
