Jerry, No, I do not know William Johnston. I do not yet know who Owen's father was but his mother was Margaret ? Johnston. I found her in the 1850 Charleston, SC census with Owen and his sister, Elizabeth. They moved to Savannah when Owen was a young man because he was a member of a baseball team in Savannah in 1868. Elizabeth married Grover E. Bevans, attorney, of Savannah in 1870 and Owen married Ellen C. Pierson, of Sparta & Savannah in 1872. I have been to Savannah several times to do research on this Johnston line and had Kay Kole (genealogist) do research for me years ago. I have my Pierson line back to 1517 and have published a book on that line but this Johnston line is a real road blocker and the line my family wants most to know about. Many of my Johnston men worked for the railroad so I am trying to see if there would be records there. I will keep you in mind in my Johnston search. Shirley Johnston LaGarde
