Anne, I read this info from you to the one who is looking, and I agree with what you said about Charleston and GA. My Balfour family came into Savannah from Scotland, by landing at Charleston, many times, and then taking a boat down to Savannah, where our Balfour family settled after my 3d great grandfather, Robert Balfour, still a Scotland citizen, died in a ship off of the Savannah bar in 1837. I see Robert and his Uncle John coming and going several times from Charleston to Savannah, although Robert drowned in the ship going to Savannah. HIs Uncle John did a lot of legal work in Savannah in the early 1800s, too.
