Obit for Francis Henry Marshall, November 28, 1859-September 17, 1920 Surname: MARSHALL, STEVENS, VARNEDOE, LaFAR, RICHARDSON, SEYLE Savannah Morning News, Saturday, Sept. 18, 1920 PIONEER IN THE GROCERY BUSINESS DEAD HERE F.H. Marshall, Sr., Yields to Long Illness Francis H. Marshall, Sr., a pioneer in the grocery business in Savannah died at his home, 1108 Henry St. East, last night at 9:40 o'clock, age 60 years. He had been ill for a long time. Mr. Marshall had been engaged in the grocery business in this city for forty years. He also took considerable interest in military affairs, having been captain of the Oglethorpe Light Infantry for a number of years. He was very active in church work. For a long time he was superintendent of the Trinity Methodist Sunday-school and was one of the organizers of the Asbury Memorial Sunday-school, and a charter member of that church. Mr. Marshall was a member of Mistletoe Camp, and Woodmen of the World. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ann Elias Steven's Marshall; one daughter, Miss Mary Louise Marshall, and five sons, T. Alfred Marshall, Francis H., Jr., Walter P., Otiose R. and Jesse P. Marshall, all of Savannah, and five grandchildren. The funeral will take place from the residence tomorrow afternoon at 5 o'clock. Rev W. A. Kelly, pastor of the asbury Memorial Church and Rev. J. M. Outler, pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church, will conduct the services. Interment will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery. ********************************************** Francis H. Marshall, Sr. The funeral of Francis H. Mrshall, Sr., who died Friday night at his home, 1108 Henry street, east, will be held this afternoon at 5:30 o'clock from the residence. Interment will be in Laurel Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be J.A. Varnedoe, S.B. LaFar, C.H. Richardson, John J. Stevens, F.W. Seyle and J.H. Seyle.
