    3. I have recently received my grgrandparents' death certificates and begin to unravel my JONES threads... not as daunting a task as I'd imagined, so far... my ggf, Edward JONES appears in the 1880 census with his parents, Payton Wade & Rebecca BARROW JONES in Dawson/Terrell; I am just beginning other census searches. any kind seekers out there with resources, I'm all ears & eyes! just yesterday I found that Rebecca had filed in Bibb Co for CW widow's Pension on Payton W, who 'srv Eufaula AL Bttry "Eldridge's Bttn"' listed in the _Index to Georgia Confederate Pension Files_ I also found 2 refs for [possibly my ancestor] William B. MELL: one says 'srv Co B 8th GA, wits for E.S. LAW of Thomas Co GA'; the other says 'srv Co B 6th GA, wits for W.A. BURNEY of Crisp Co GA these are my first ancestors of my knowledge to be found as veterans of the WBTS. I'd like to know 'where' to go for more info. if Rebecca JONES filed papers, can I get copies, and what will be found in them? where do I go to learn more about Eldridge's Bttn & the Alabama co Payton was in and/or more info on the William MELLs mentioned above? I'm ready to learn! thanks to some great lists for helping to light the way... kirby in NC The only normal people are those you don't know very well. -- Oscar Wilde searching LUNAN and ANDERSON in SCT; JONES, MELL and HEARD in GA; KIRBY, GASTON and BRITTON in NJ* *and BENNETT, CHAMBERLAIN, CLAYTON, MOUNT & others...
