    2. Savannah MORNING NEWS 31 October 1870 Death of P.G.M. James L.Haupt Our community was pained yesterday by the announcement of the death of one of the old citizens of Savannah, James L.Haupt, Esquire, which sad event took place on Sunday morning at 3 o'clock, at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr.John W.Wilson, on York Street, near Jefferson. Mr.Haupt was a descendant of one of the old families which settled this portion of the South, and was a son of the late John Haupt. The deceased occupied many prominent positions, among which we would mention that of Secretary and Third Assistant Chief of the old Savannah Fire Company, Trustee of the Ltheran Church, City Assessor, and Past Grand Master of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows of Georgia, a position to which he was elected in 1866, after serving as D.G.M. from 1863. In 1867 he was elected Grand Representative to the Grand Lodge of the United States. The four Lodges and Encampment of the Order of this city, and the members of the Grand Lodge of the State, will attend his funeral. Mr.Haupt was born on October 29th, 1816, and was consequently aged 54 years and one day at the time of his death. Our city, in the death of Mr.Haupt, has lost a useful citizen, one who was always willing to act well his part in whatever position he was called upon to fill, and who now, that he is dead, will be mourned by many friends. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Savannah MORNING NEWS 27 August 1861 OBITUARY Died, in this city, on the 19th instant, of Diptheria, MARY SUSANNAH POSEY, aged nine years, youngest daughter of the late B.B.Haupt.
