The Bull Run battle letter arrived today and is better than I was expecting, though I was told it was excellent. It's very long and very detailed...a few of the names are difficult to read, and hopefully descendants of these people will be able to make sense of the spelling. The historian who sent me the letter suspects there may be more of his letters buried in the Savannah paper, and perhaps some of the drawings James did while a soldier in Virginia. We have a few of these drawings...children, camp scenes, the unfinished dome of the US Capitol, and interesting birds. As the letter is very long, I may split it up into installments. Jim Johnson
