    3. The German Lutheran Church and Lutheran Church of the Ascension are the same church. Rev. Stephen Albion Mealy was at the Lutheran Church of the Ascension 1824-1839. The title Reverend goes to one who has been ordained. The position of Pastor usually indicates the head of a congregation, as one could be ordained and not have a church of his own. Stephen A. Mealy, Pastor German Lutheran Church". Is it possible for someone to be a Reverend AND a Pastor? Is there a difference between the two? Why would both titles be used in the announcement? Do you know where this Church is/was located in Savannah?
