The German Lutheran Church and Lutheran Church of the Ascension are the same church. Rev. Stephen Albion Mealy was at the Lutheran Church of the Ascension 1824-1839. The title Reverend goes to one who has been ordained. The position of Pastor usually indicates the head of a congregation, as one could be ordained and not have a church of his own.
