    3. They started in 1890 for Savannah, but all GA birth certificates are only available to a select group (child, parents, etc.) unless death is proven by certificate. Just so you'll know I don't make this stuff up. http://www.ph.dhr.state.ga.us/programs/vitalrecords/index.shtml On a related note, if you can associate your family with one of Savannah's older churches, most of their records (baptisms for instance) are on microfilm available through FHCs and the GHS. Catholic records are available through the Diocese and they have a database.
