I have put the rosters of the GA 1st Infantry Regiment (Mercer- Olmstead's) on line on my Civil War in Georgia site. This regiment was made up of 11 companies and 1797 men - all from Chatham county. They spent most of the war in the Savannah area, other than a stint in Virginia, then back to GA and SC for the Sherman invasion.
