    1. [GACHATHAM] Bond and Grant and Cowart
    2. It took 7 years, but I finally made contact with a cousin from the Miller Bond Grant branch of the family. As luck would have it, he has the Grant Family Bible, and I was able to fill-in many blank spaces for lots of kin from Savannah and Philadelphia. I also learned of plantations and such I didnt know existed. Miller's obituary indicates that he graduated West Point and was involved in the construction of Savannah's Civil War fortifications and the pontoon bridge the troops used to evacuate Savannah by. In the 1870s he was an engineer on the James Eads St.Louis Bridge, then returned to Savannah. Venables Bond's fate has been an old mystery, but the Bible records that he died at Savannah 19 October 1819. His wife, Nancy Ann Miller, died at Savannah 28 July 1828. Searching for a missing 3rd great grandfather, Alexander Turner, I may have found him in the Macon area circa 1815, where his estate was being adinistered by son, Joseph and a daughter? with the last name of Cowart.
