I have a copy of a Diary written by an Uncle - George Pournelle, who was a ME Minister and wrote the Diary at the request of his Bishop. He gave the name of his father as John. He never called his mother by name, but she was received into the Church at a town outside of Baltimore. Hhe gave the names of his 2 brothers: John and William. The son John was born ca. 1797 in Baldwin Co., GA per the 1860 Census of Chatham Co. George b. 1801 NY and Wm. (my direct) b. 1803 Long Island , NY. The diary said his father died in the Late War with the British (War of 1812) died near the end of the War (I guess 1815) at Camp Jax. The family was living in Savannah at that time, later they removed to Sandersville, Wash. Co., GA. Do you suppose Camp Jax is Fort Jackson. I have never been able to find a reference to his death. Any reference to his death would be greatly appreciated. I have looked in books listing the soldiers in War of 1812 - he was not listed. Thanks, Mary
