    3. Mary & All, I am very interested in the Volumes of "Newspaper Clippings of Chatham County, GA." I would like to know the publisher and author so I can mention it to our librarian. One of the ancestors in my research is Martha Gray married to John W. Gray of Cumberland Island, GA. Upon his death in 1849, she moved to Savannah with her four younger children. Martha's maiden name was Mongin according to a fellow researcher and I know she was born about 1796 in St. Andrews Parrish, SC. She appeared on the 1850 and 1860 census in Savannah. 1850 she was with her family (in close proximity to a widow named Mongin) and in 1860, she was living in the house with her youngest daughter married to Andrew Jackson Pollard. I've searched the 1870 census without success. Her daughter, Maria Louisa Pollard had moved to Jacksonville during the war. Maria's husband was serving with the confederate army. Her brother-in-law made the trip to bring her and the children to Jax, hoping to get them out of harms way. I have searched for some record of Martha M. Gray's death and burial but can find nothing. I feel confident that she died between 1860 and 1870, possibly after 1863/4 . Anyone on the list that knows anything about her or her family, I would appreciate hearing from you. 3. I'd recommend you contact the Georgia Historical Society in Savannah and they'll probably be able to give you all the details on acquiring (or accessing) these newspaper clippings. I've been a member for about 4 years now and every visit I've made to their facility in Savannah has been great! Thumbing thru newspapers (Savannah Morning News) from the late 1700s & 1800s was terriffic. Information about them can be found thru their website at http://www.georgiahistory.com/Membership.html.
