There was a Thomas West China Shop in Savannah Ga in the late 1800s through the early 1900s. John Thomas West inherited it from his uncle. John Thomas or TJ West was also known as Thomas West. Does anyone have any information or has ever heard of the Thomas West & Company China shop. In order to got back another generation I need to figure out the the father's name of John Thomas West, or the uncle he inherited he store from. In 1885 John T. West was the bookkeeper at Thomas West & Co. 185 Broughton china, glass, & queensware. He resided at 28 Berrien, the home of Dominick McGloin, a boilermaker at Coastline RailRoad. Dennis McGloin, a Fireman at C. R. R. also lived there. There were also John A. and Roger McGloin, boilermakers, and William McGloin, Engineer at the C.R.R who lived at 191 Harris. In the 1880 census, Thos West, 16, nephew, was living with Domenick Mc Glone (sic), Dennis Mc Glone, and Bessie Mc Glone. Sorry, no church, as they didn't record the marriage. In the 1860 census Richard West, 26, of Sligo, Ireland was a watchman at C.R.R and Bridget West, 32, also of Sligo, Ireland, was a domestic.
