    3. Dear Margie HENDRIX BARDEN, Effingham Co GA has had two distinct sets of GRAHAMs (so far, I've not found that my children are descended from either): (1) your earlier group (including John GRAHAM d 1835 & Selete CRAWFORD d 1839), and (2) the later group, who are descendants of Almon E. GRAHAM (of MA) d 1859 & Sarah A. HUNTER (of Screven Co GA) d 1860. The later group has a number of tie-ins with my mother's BOYKINs and other Screven Co GA families (many through their HUNTER cousins). This later group married into many Effingham Co GA families (AMBROSE, EDWARDS, HODGES, MORGAN, KESSLER, USHER, WILSON, &c.) as well as a few Screven Co GA families (BRANNEN, COURSEY, PRYOR, &c.) and I believe that the large majority of GRAHAM descendants in the area today belong to this later clan. Your earlier clan also has a number of associations with Effingham Co GA families, especially HODGES, and some with Bulloch & Screven Cos GA families. Although other researchers have graciously shared information about some of the family having moved on to MS, I myself have no proof for John GRAHAM being the son of William Dugal GRAHAM & Flora SCRUGGS (the use of exact dates may mean that there is a family Bible record). I'll forward an e-mail message that contains Joyce HODGES FEAZELL's family outline for the folks about whom you are interested (you may already have all this), Subject: GRAHAM Effingham Co GA to MS. Although one of the daughters of John GRAHAM & Selita CRAWFORD is named Celete Ann Duncan GRAHAM SOWELL (and perhaps her mother indeed has the same middle name), I believe that the mother was nee CRAWFORD. Incidentally these HODGES are my wife's bunch, and are a different clan from the Bulloch Co GA HODGES from whom I am descended. I haven't done much e-mail correspondence lately. Although I am retired, family matters (activities and health), a book project, editing a chapter of military history, and work for research clients have kept me too busy to indulge myself too much. I believe that you live in our area, so the following services may be of little interest to you (you can ably take care of things yourself). As alluded to in the accompanying forwarded e-mail message (Subject: CRAWFORD Effingham Co GA), I offer research services to those interested in Bulloch, Chatham, Effingham & Screven Cos GA history and families: As part of the research that I do for genealogical clients, I use a digital camera (the use of which was kindly suggested by Dale REDDICK) to produce images of documents in the local courthouses and libraries (NOT including the Georgia Historical Society -- "scans" there involve both permission and a hefty fee!). For known documents (no actual research) for which I do not need to do additional travel (that is, when my work takes me to that court house or library already), my fee is $2 per document (for up to 4 images of longer documents), in advance. I forward the images to clients by e-mail in .jpg format (about 550k in size for each image). For actual research efforts, other fee arrangements are necessary. I had studied your GRAHAMS originally because two of the GRAHAM daughters married into my wife's HODGES family: Flora GRAHAM m Isaac HODGES and gave us a terrific Bible record (I've only seen transcriptions, not the original) and Margaret Ann GRAHAM m Samuel HODGES (his m2, my wife is descended from his m1 Jane BLACK NEALIN HODGES CHARLTON) -- she also had a natural child by James TUTLLE, Caroline Amanda GRAHAM/TUTTLE (sometimes HODGES) JAMES. My research for your GRAHAMs was generally confined to local primary sources, so I have little information about the MS connection. Although my work keeps me fairly involved, if I can answer any questions through my archive of my own research messages (that is, no new research), I am glad to do so as my time permits. Happy Valentines Day, and May God Bless You and Your Family, Bob (John Robert) PEAVY Post Office Box 1519 Rincon GA 31326-1519 jrpv@netzero.net Note: I am a descendant John HENDRICKS Sr RS & Mary TALLANT (gggggparents -- I lack proof concerning her maiden name & parents) through Elizabeth HENDRICKS EVANS (of the smaller Screven Co GA EVANS clan), John C. EVANS (disappeared in NC after the surrender in 1865), Rodney Elizabeth EVANS PEVEY (evidently named after her gmother and her gmother's boarder, Dr Rodney BURKE), Eulie Hudson PEAVY (my gfather, who is buried at Little Ogeechee Baptist Church). ____________________________ From: M.H. Barden To: jrpv@netzero.net Sent: Thursday, February 13, 2003 Subject: Graham ~ Effingham Co. AHGP I descend from John Graham and Selete Duncan Graham who died in Effingham Co, GA in the 1830's. Are these your Grahams? My sisters and I are looking for proof of the parentage of John's parents, Dugal Graham and Flora Scruggs Graham who died in MS in 1821 and 1836 or 1837. Any help would be appreciated. I will share with you anything we have. Margie Barden
