    1. [GACHATHAM] Neel family in early GA records
    2. Glee
    3. I am new to this list. So here is my first posting. I have a old Bible record that says that the George B. Neel family was in Georgia around the time that Oglethorpe came with his settlers. I have no way of knowing if this is true or not. Does anyone on this list have a copy of the list of people who came with him on his ship. George was supposed to have come with his father and 7 brothers. No names for them at this time. That is a lot of men form one family. George was supposley only 5 years old when he came. His son was supposed to have been born in the area that is now Macon GA. in 1758. That was indian lands then and thinly populated with whites at that time. Is there records of people who lived in what is now Bibb Co in the 1700s? I suspect that they may have come into Charlseston and then moved south. There is tax records of Neels in the 1790s and early 1800s. in Franklin and Montgomery co.s My line had moved on to KY and left their relatives behind it appears. George along with his brothers were supposed to have served! in the Rev war but other researchers have not been able to find anything. Did Georgia have many units in the war? I am stabbing around here trying to find out where to look. Often if they served in the state militia then they are not in the federal records. Hope that some one can help me on this lists with some leads. Thanks so much for any help that you can give. Glee
