    1. [GACHATHAM] ROLL CALL - Madden
    2. Hi Listers, I'm looking for burial information on Mary Madden (10 Oct1865-22 Aug 1953) of Savannah and her father, Hubert Madden (b. 1814 IRE-d aft. 24 Mar 1899 ?), who was a stonecutter in Heard County, GA. She became a nun at an early age and worked in the Savannah area. She was known as Sister Mary Antonia Madden and her secular name was Mary Bridget Madden. Can anyone on the list tell me the name of the Catholic establishments in Savannah at the turn of the century and what cemeteries they used? Hubert Madden is reported to have died in St. Joseph's Infirmary in Atlanta but is probably buried next to his daughter. Any help appreciated, Suzanne Ashley

    2. Gregory Drexel
    3. Hi there, Frances. I have seen your searching for your Bradleys. Mine are so early, I don't know if they will help or not. I just finished an email to Jerry Braddock about the Bradley that I have, and I'll just paste it below. The first Bradley in Savannah was the WILLIAM BRADLEY whose will was drawn in Red Lion Square, London, England c. 1750? if I remember right. Anyway, he came over with Oglethorpe, a man of means, and shows up in the Colonial Records a good bit. Was a bit of a rascal, however, and had to go to South Carolina, and then eventually back to England, where he died. But he was the progenitor of the Bradleys below. According to Colonial Conveyance Book C-1, page 103, I found the following: LUCY MOUSE, widow, Savannah, DEED OF GIFT, dated 16 February 1754 and recorded 12 July 1754. TO: ELIZABETH YOUNG, daughter of my son in law, ISAAC YOUNG [Elizabeth's brother was Isaac Young, Jr.] WILLIAM NORTON, JR., son of my daughter, KATEY NORTON LUCY TONDUE, my youngest daughter [wife of Peter TONDEE] ISAAC YOUNG, my son in law, in consideration of the many kind services done my by him [ISAAC YOUNG, JR. went on to marry MARTHA BRADLEY, sister of JAMES BRADLEY who married JOHN BARNARD, whose sons were Timothy and William BARNARD, of Indian fighting days with Hawkins. JOHN BARNARD'S Will: Wilmington Island, Savannah, Gentleman Dated: 29 January 1747; Probated: 8 September 1757, Recorded: 9 September 1757 Wife: JANE (BRADLEY) BARNARD Sons: TIMOTHY BARNARD (when 21) WILLIAM BARNARD (when 21) (Son Timothy, entitled by Deed of Gift from RICHARD KENT 500 acres on Wilmington Island) (Son William tract of 500 acres on Wilmington Island) Indian Slave: HARRY - freedom after 2 years service to JANE Exrs: NOBLE JONES, Esq.
