    2. Dear Judy, Thanks for the treat. Reading the diary of Fannie White was like a step back in time, visiting dear ol' Savannah. I am not related to these folks, but I still felt close to them and really enjoyed reading of this time period, first hand. Fannies's mom told her that she was wasting her time by writing the diary, if only she knew. Thanks again! Cheers, George Watson Fort Walton Beach,Fla.

    1. [GACHATHA] Love Tucker
    2. This may be of use to some of you Carcker Trackers who have Bahamian connections: I received the notes recorded in Love Tucker’s prayer book from Alex S. Hopkins of Atlanta, Georgia. He is some how a descendant of Love Tucker and Simeon Martinangel--Alex spells it Martinangele. He tracked the book down to a Mrs. Derst in Savannah. Because the book was in too poor condition to photocopy, Mrs Derst hand-copied the notes for Mr. Hopkins. He sent me a photocopy of what she sent him. He had first contacted me when he found one of his ancestors, John Hopkins, in my book “Wooden Ships - Iron Men.” John Hopkins and William Lyford Jr., my fifth great-uncle, had been harbor pilots in Savannah and both had fled Georgia has Loyalist at the outbreak of the Revolution. I have transcribed to notes to print as faithfully as I could and have inserted some few comments in brackets. In looking at old Bahamas records on microfilm, I found some that substantiate some of the items in the prayer book. I also found numerous records to do with many of the people she mentions. One surname prominent among the names I found in these records was Love, primarily Ebenezer and John. I strongly suspect that Love Tucker’s given name was derived from some sort of relationship between the Love and Tucker families. J. G. 1. Re: [GACHATHA] EADY FAMILY - LOT 1302, Laurel Grove Cemetery, Savannah, Georgia
    2. Judy Canant - Hello: Noted your message dated January 8, 2001 addressed to CHARLES relating to the surname EADY located in Lot Number 1302, Laurel Grove Cemetery, Savannah, Georgia. Specifically, my interest centers on those individuals buried in Lot Number 1302 with the name of EDWARD R. EADY, EMILY E. EADY, EMMIE EADY, and JOHN EADY. These indicated individuals appear to be the grandparents and their children of my wife. I would greatly appreciate if you could confirm that the individuals listed in you message and my wife's ancestors are the same people. For your information, set forth below are the birth and death dates of my wife's ancestors: NAME DATE OF BIRTH DATE OF DEATH EDWARD R. EADY 1856/1857 July 27, 1924 EMILY E. EADY 1850 December 8, 1902 EMMIE EADY (Daughter) 1894 November 22, 1907 JOHN EADY (Son) 1889 December 9, 1912 In addition, there were seven (7) other children of EDWARD R. EADY AND EMILY E. EADY in addition to EMMIE EADY and JOHN EADY. At this time, I have no idea as to the relationship of the indicated EADYs to the other individuals listed in your message, i.e. PETTIS, BINGHAM, NIX, RICH, SHULER, and SYKES. Obviously, if these surnames are related to the EADY family, I would greatly appreciated learning more about these individuals. And, if you have any information whatsoever concerning the EADY family, I would greatly appreciate such data if you would be so kind to forward such information to me, at your convenience. Also, if CHARLES has any above requested information I would most welcome hearing from him. If you and/or CHARLES have any interest in the EADY family of Savannah, Georgia, I would be most happy to share with you and CHARLES what little information I currently posses. Look forward to hearing from you and/or CHARLES at your earliest opportunity. Your cooperation and assistance will be greatly appreciated. Robert D. Peterson e-mail address: [email protected]

    1. [GACHATHA] Fannie White's Daily Record of her Girlish Life.--Savannah, GA
    2. I just came across the following while doing a search on GOOGLE search engine. This is no one in my own family, but I'll bet that someone on this List will like to see this: Fannie White's Daily Record of her Girlish Life. This book was commenced on May 11th 1874. Ended on January 25th 1875. 14 years old. Introduction: Fannie White, the author of this journal, was born 27 April 1860 in Savannah, Georgia. Her parents were Christopher White, born Christoph Witte in Hanover, Germany, and Eliza Holliday probably born in Chatham County, Georgia. Her father was a grocer in Savannah as several entries in the journal reveal. Their residence was at 165 Jones Street.   It is quite long and the URL is: http://www.wsnet.com/~ernie.seckinger/Fannie.htm Have fun looking through this, which mentions many names. Judy Canant

    1. [GACHATHA] Elliott
    2. Ed Grady
    3. ELLIOTT and SOLOMONS Usually I just read and listen, but today I have questions. I have an Esther Elliott born Feb. 20, 1780. She married Saul Solomons and lived in Beaufort District,SC, but may be connected to the Savannah Wylly family. Her son John Graves Solomons married Sarah Matilda Dasher daughter of Solomon Dasher and Maria Wylly (Maria was daughter of Thomas and Naomi Wylly of Effingham County...Thomas was the son of William and Catherine Wylly of Cherokee Hill Plantation near Savannah.) Esther Elliott Solomons' other sons were named Henry Elliott Solomons, Samuel Solomons, William P. Solomons and Elliott Gibson Solomons. I am aware that the Elliotts were married into the Habersham and Wylly families. Saul Solomons b.about 1775 in Germany came to Charleston,SC. He had a younger brother Hart Solomons who lived the latter part of his life in Savannah. They operated a cotton factoring business together between Savannah and Beaufort District,SC. I know where Saul and his children are buried in Beaufort District,SC, but what became of Hart Solomons and his family in Savannah? Hart had two sons: Edward W. and Samuel Solomons. Also there were daughters: Freelove E., Caroline, Mary (married a Williams), Priscilla Ann (married a Burk). In 1842 (according to a deed ) Hart and Samuel Solomons were already dead, but the other children were still alive. Where? Carolyn Ramsay

    2. Referring to the KRENSONs re-interred, I imagine that they were buried on the old plantation. The Arsonist's men burned the old Krenson plantation and attacked one of the women in the family and then killed her and ano;ther family member. That story was carried on through the family with so much heartbreak , and I heard it myself when I was just a little girl, overhearing my grandmother (who was Martha Miller Krenson's younger sister) talking to my mother about why Alex had such a hard time in his life. It was during WWII that I overheard that tale, and I do think it was correct, but I have no proof of it.
