Delagal is an early, early Georgia name. If my memory is correct, a Delagal served under Oglethorpe at the 1740 siege of St. Augustine and at St. Simons in 1742 when the Spanish attempted to invade Georgia. Jerry B.
Cheryl' Here is a link to River's Ends web page: The River's End Icouldn't find one on Williams' Seafood. After you finish in Savannah, come on up to Charleston for some real histrical research and some real dining. Jerry B.
Susie I would appreciate it if you would keep an eye out for any Robertson or Stanley. The name DeLeGal that caught your eye -- they were in north Florida very early, starting out first (I think) around St Augustine and later moving inland. The name is also found De Legal, and later evolved into the name Delegal. Not my line, but if anyone is looking, many are still in Suwannee Co, FL today. Thanks, Alcyone [email protected]
Thanks to everyone that has replied, both with information on palces to eat and places to research. I will definitely get to at least the library and to the Historical Society. I will get to Ms. Wilkes and had already made a reservation for a window seat at River's End. I will add Williams Seafood and all the others to the least. Although I think I will run out of nights before I get to try them all. I will send out an email to let you know if I was successful in my research. Again thanks to everyone. Cheryl Flowers
Would you please look for Robertson, Haupt, Lindner or Wilbur? Thank you
Since we can no longer locate the pages Jim Johnson was hosting last year, I have posted some of my family obits to: Chatham Co. Ga Obituaries Message Index Perhaps some of you on the list would like to do the same. Susan Marshall [email protected]
Can anyone tell me how I can locate a 1966 obituary from Chatham County? Would like to get obituary of Mary Elizabeth Barbee Green, who died in Chatham County on Dec. 4, 1966. Thanks in advance, Charlene Patton
We just returned from a family research trip from Savannah. Both the main library on Bull Street and the Historical Society on Whitaker St. are excellent places for research. Also, the Chatham County Court House for wills, deeds, some death records. The history room librarian at the Bull Street library is Sharon Lee. She is very helpful. Dorinda Duggan Malloy
The name is River's End, good food

Is Tassie's Pier still in Thunderbolt?
In my earlier email, I got fumble-fingerd while trying to type Bull and typed Buul: <<It is on Whitaker, but going up Buul and around Forsythe Park, you will see it on the right. >>
They have excellent index books of all Savannah's old newspapers which tell which reel each reference is on. It is on Whitaker, but going up Buul and around Forsythe Park, you will see it on the right.
Williams Seafood, going out toward Tybee, is also a winner.

You can find the micro film and the city directories at the Savannah public Library on Bull Street. Ann
