I descend from Elizabeth GENTRY, who was supposedly born March 11,1775 in SC and who died March 16, 1854 in Carroll Co. GA. These dates came from her tombstone, I believe. She married Andrew SHELLNUT ca 1797. I'm not sure where they married, but some researchers say Franklin Co. GA. They had the following children: John, Rebekah, William, Lavina, David, Thomas, Polly D, Susannah, Laura, Elizabeth, Andrew Joseph, Henry, and Nathaniel (my ancestor). Andrew SHELLNUT was the son of George and Catherine SCHIELTKNIGHT who, in 1765, had a land grant for 350 acres at Cuffietown Creek, near Londonborough, often called Londonderry, 96th District (Edgefield) SC. George and Catherine were immigrants from Germany, possibly Breslau. George was born ca 1728 and Catherine ca 1736. There were two GENTRY men listed on a 1778-1779 SC jury list for that area: Nicholas "about Cuffee Town and Turkey Creek" and John "near Ninety-six Court House." Hezekiah GENTRY was listed as in Spartan District, which is not as close as the other two. Was Elizabeth's father Nicholas or John? Or were they her brothers? She did name her firstborn son John, but was that simply a coincidence? I appreciate any help you can give on this line, and I'd love to hear from any "cousins" out there. Vickie Elam White
