Hello, I am brand new to your list. I have just been informed my grgrgr grandfather was listed in Carroll Co., GA in the mortality index, as passing away in September of 1869. It is very important that I can connect him to his family from NC to the present generation. Without a will, this has been difficult as census when the children were young did not show their names only ages. Is there anyone out there who can tell me how to find the Probate records for this time period? Can anyone tell me what I could do besides this idea? I would love to know where he is buried. His wife's name was Martha. He frequently went by the spelling Bachelor, but our name has been spelled 40 different ways including Bachelder and Bachler. I am told he is listed in the 1870 mortality schedule as William Batchelor Sr. Thank you so much for listening! I could use help at this point, being so far away from GA.
