I have gotten two different answers to the same question. I have been trying to research some land that is located (closed to the Campbell Co. Line). This is what I have: Carroll Co. Deed: Grantor: Robert Martin (who had the land before him ?) Grantee: Delilia Winter was she kin to Robert Martin? does it say? Land District 3, Land Lot 140 (land close to Campbell Co. line) Date of Instrument: 4 Feb. 1863 (Why would people by buying land in the middle of the Civil War or was it obtained another way????) Date of Filing: 4 March 1871 Why so long between the dates? Type of instrument QC ( What is this?) Book M page 349 Grantor: William Bullard DEFT. Grantee: Manda Winters (no A) (Campbell Co. Said her name was MASON) Land Dist. #., Land Lot 140 ( Amanda was Deliliah's daughter) date of InstrumentOctober 7, 1875 Date of filing October 12 1875 Kind of instrument SHERIFF (Why?) Book N., page 552 grantor AMANDA WINTERS ( Deliliah's daughter) grantee N J KNIGHT (we have reason to believe this is deliliah's daughter too) Land Districk 3 Land Lot 140 Date of Instrument 1881 (??? No date was given) Date of filing (Was blanK) Kind of instrument W Deed Is there a copy of the will that I could get? Book P page 735 In doing some research I am comming up blank on some questions. We had always been told that Mary Ann Winters Byers (Deliliah's daughter) had homsteaded (which I've been told they didn't do) 160 acres of land somewhere around Atlanta, (Campbell or Carroll ) They had gotten married in 1860. They had to build a house on it and live there 5 years. Mr. Byers was killed in the Civil war. In 1870 census Mary Ann WINTERS using maiden name - her sisters did the same thing, is listed with 3 sons in Carroll co., Carrollton, Ga. 5th Dist. Value of land 200. She married Mr. __Glaze in 1871 - 1873 and left her land (to her kin folks?) and they moved to Etowah Co.., Ala. What happened to the land ?? is this the land that Deliliah is on? I am trying to find descendants of the WINTERS and am hoping legal document will hold some of the clues. What happend to NJ KNIGHT's land? Did she sell Let me know if you can make copies of these documents for me I will gladly pay whatever it costs for your time and expenses. Thank you for you help.
