Looking for information on the following Dean family in 1850 Meriwether County, some of whom may have moved to Carroll. Trying to find maiden name of wife of Christopher Columbus Boyd, possibly sister of (Mrs.) Caroline Dean. NC (should be GA) BOYD, Christopher C., 3, b. NC (should be GA) BOYD, Melvina, 6 mos., b. NC (should be GA) 1870 Carroll Co. #1000 (Villa Rica) BOYD, Columbus C., 23, b. GA BOYD, Sarah, 21, B. GA DEAN, Caroline, 28, B. GA (Next door are families of Spence and Hembree, living together) 1880 Carroll Co., #89 (Fairplay Dist.) BOYD, C.C., 33, GA BOYD, Sarah G., wife, 31, GA BOYD, LaFayette R(andolph), son, 9, GA BOYD, Albert H., son, 7, GA BOYD, Martha A.D., dau, 4, GA BOYD, Charles S., son, 2, GA DEAN, S.C., w/d, Sister in law, 38, GA The BOYD family moved to Carroll County, GA, sometime between 1850-1860. Christopher Columbus BOYD (above) married SARAH G.H. ---- in Oct. 1868, as noted in his Bible records. There is no record of the marriage in Carroll or Meriwether. However, in 1870 and 1880 Carroll County census, Christopher Columbus Boyd and Sarah ---? have living in the house with them a CAROLINE DEAN, b. abt 1842 in GA, (widowed/divorced, according to census) said to be C.C.'s sister-in-law. I assume this is his wife's sister who married a DEAN, possibly one of the DEAN boys living next door to the BOYD family in 1850 Meriwether. Marriage records in Meriwether do not show a DEAN married to a CAROLINE ----. I suspect that since she is widowed in 1870, her husband may have been a Civil War casualty.? Hoping someone out there is related and can come up with a maiden name for CAROLINE DEAN and SARAH G.H. BOYD. Any information appreciated. Judy
