    1. [GACARROL] BROCK, pre- and post- War Between the States
    2. Richard
    3. David N. Brock, Co. I, 19th Reg., Ga. Inf., lived in Carroll county until about 1886, having been married to Mary E. Davis about 1851 (location uncertain). His mother was Sarah (probably Nelson), first husband Christian name unknown, and seems to have married George Watson after David Brock's father died. They were known to have lived in the Villa Rica and Temple areas of the county. David and Mary had ten known sons and one daughter. Daughter Sarah Jane married Berry T. Rains of Carroll county but she died from burns after their marriage on 22 Jan 1881. David and Mary's sons married wives with maiden names: Cochran, Lee, Brice, all thought to be of Carroll county. This/these families moved to Culman county AL in the mid-1880s. Should any of these clues seem to relate to you or others you know I am desperate to learn more about David and Mary's ancestry. Please respond if you can help in any way. I assume the new county heritage book just released wouldn't contain such information, hence couldn't justify buying it to find no data relating to my research. But I will be anxious to buy it if you were to tell me of adequate information on these families to justify its cost. Thanks -- Richard Brock

    2. AS one of the doubting people who had expressed concern on the length of time it took for the Carroll County Historical Book to be published, I can only say "Great Job". I received it on the weekend and have been reading it every night. My thanks go out to all the people who put in the hard work to gather the articles, pictures and the publishing but especially to those who submitted stuff. It is a great book and somehting I will truly cherish for the years to come. Sincerely yours in genealogy Don Cowart Springfield, VA

    2. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I knew everyone would want to know this. We all knew, loved and respected Joe for his genealogy research and willingness to help others. I, for one, am in shock. Joe will be sorely missed and mourned by many. A friend of mine found this in the Douglasville paper today and called me. --- Judy ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Joe Baggett, 55, of Douglasville, died April 27, 2002. He was born in 1946. He was a graduate of Douglas County High School and had been a writer and historian about Douglas County and Douglasville history. 1. [GACARROL] Winters Byers Glaze research
    2. Hi, could someone do some lookups for me? I am trying to find information on Deliliah Winters and her children they are listed in Campbell co in 1860 and some of her children are in CARROLL co in 1870 I don't know why Mary Ann Winters is using her maiden name while lised with her three sons. Her real name was BYERS by this time. but we don't have a marriage certificate to prove this. Suppossedly Mr. ? BYERS was killed in the Civil War Then Mary Ann Winters Byers married Mr. ? Glaze in 1870-1872 again no marriage certificate. They moved from Carroll Co to Etowah Co, Ala because the clay was better for making bricks (Mr. Glaze's trade) The boys assumed the Glaze name which we use even today. But the three boys that were born BYERS we have proof that 1 did marry as a Byers but lived his life as a Glaze as did most of their children. We found marriage certificates in Tn to prove this. Anything that could be found about Mary Ann's siblings or their descendants would be a wonderful find. James R. Winters b 1835 Amanda Winters 1841 William H. B 1846 (married Charmilla H. Baker 1/28/1864) Elizabeth Winters b 1848 Virginia Winters b 1852 and Nancy J. b 1837 Thanks in advance for any information. Carolyn Glaze
