Looking for information on Martha (Mattie, Matt) COLE who married John BAGGETT in Paulding Co., GA, December 18, 1879. Their son Joe Paul BAGGETT was born September 16, 1888, in Villa Rica, Carroll Co., GA. Other children may have been Clive, John, William, Kyle, Ethel and Dora BAGGETT. Was this Martha Cole the same one who married William L. BAKER on January 7, 1891, and/or the same one who was born February 6, 1856, in Carrollton, GA, the daughter of Gilbert COLE and Elizabeth HAYNES? Thanks for any help. I am trying to find members of the WINTERS - BYERS - and GLAZE families I know Deliliah Winters had a number of children - James, Amanda, Mary Ann, William H. or R., Elizabeth, and Virginia. In 1860 they are listed in Campbell Co. But in 1870 they are in Carroll Co. Mary Ann is listed with her 3 sons BUT she is using her maiden name instead of her married name of BYERS. Mr (UNK) BYERS was killed in the Civil War. In about 1872 - 75 she married a Mr. (UNK) Glaze who was a brickmaker from "up north" (from that part of Georgia almost ALL of the country is 'up North" Ha.) Mary Ann and her husband and now 5 children moved to Etowah Co. Alabama. But some of her family stayed there. Does anyone know anything about the WINTERS family or the rest of Mr. BYERS family????? Any Tidbit of information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Carolyn Glaze cdonut8 --part2_0.369fac36.256997d9_boundary-- --part1_0.369fac36.2569a5bf_boundary--

Hi, I'm hoping that someone can help me with this question: My gg-grandfather Solomon D. HARPER was married in Carroll Co, GA in Oct 1854 according to the marriage license in the courthouse. The strange thing is that the clerk drew a line through the space for the bride's name, and the minister did the same thing!! Has anyone ever seen this before? Family lore has it that she was 1/2 Cherokee, could this have something to do with it? Any help appreciated! BTW, I believe her name to have been Mary Ann HUNT. Thanks, Cynthia Wilson Harrison Harper, Morris, Roberts, Hunt, Melton in Carroll Co, GA

Would someone check out this info for me? My gr-grandfather, James Madison Garrett (1851-1900) died May 31, 1900, I believe in Edwardsville Alabama. However, recently a distant relative said that he was buried in Zion or Mt Zion Baptist Church in Carroll County. James Madison Garrett married Amelia Jones, daughter of Martha Word Jones and William Dudley Jones. Her mother was the daughter of James Bryson Word of Bowden. Amelia Jones Garrett (1845-1909) is said to be buried with her parents, Martha & William somewhere in Carroll County. I know that her mother Martha Word Jones died only a few years before she did around 1905-6. Can anyone confirm the burial place of James Madison Garrett and Amelia Jones Garrett?
