I am a descendant of Carroll pioneers Thomas Barnes Williams and Hannah Pinson. There is one of their children whom I have not been able to trace. She is Mary Ann A. Williams and from family knowledge I know she married Duke Nail, marriage not in Carroll County records. She signed her name "Mary Ann A. Nail" in her father's estate records. Known children, again from family knowledge, are Davis, Joel, and Enoch. I would like to know more about this family and to locate descendants A grandson of Thomas Barnes Williams and Hannah Pinson was George L. Williams, son of Henry Roland Williams and Elizabeth Osborn. George (26 Jan 1853-23 Nov 1875) married Amanda R. Boatwright on 14 Jan 1871 in Carroll. (The abstract of marriages has the bride as "S. R. Boatwright", but it clearly an "A" in the original recording.) Both are buried in Jordan Cem, Carroll. Children are: John L.Williams, b ca 1871; Ida E. Williams, b ca 1873, married J.J. Fowler, lived in Cullman, AL; and James H. Dalton Williams, 23 Aug 1874Oct 1926, married Beulah Nix, both buried Jordan cemetery. I would like to locate descendants of George L. Williams and Amanda Boatwright. Nancy Williams nelizw@aol.com

Johnny I have recently found an unknown cousin in Texas who has this theory about Robert Cook & Anna Holder Cook. Keep in mind this could be a product of her imigination however I have to give her credit for having done quite a bit of research on our relatives. For some time I have been searching for my g g grandfather (Luda or Lewdy Holder's) parents. This cousin seems to think Anna Holder was Luda's mama and he had a sister by the name of Eliza. Anna married a Jessie George in Heard Co. who was about 60-70 years old at the time. After his death Anna married Robert Cook. Anna's son Luda later married Martha Cook who was Robert's daughter. Anna's daughter Eliza later married John Rutledge. I have also tried to find Robert Cook to find out if he is the father of my gg grandmother Martha Cook Holder. I am also showing Luda's grandson William Luda (Bud) Holder born Jan 18, 1978 to marry Hester Ida Rooks on Nov. 15, 1899. They are buried in Lowell Methodist Cemetery in Carroll Co. Ga. Please reply if you can shed any light on this story. I've just recently joined the Carrol Co. group. My interest in the county are the SHELTON families. My grandfather, with one of his four families, lived in Carrol Co. in 1880. He was Jeremiah "Jerry" M. SHELTON who was married to Martha COCHRAN (COCHRANE) in Paulding Co., GA. His father was Martin VanBuren SHELTON, & his mother was Manervia "Mary" Tabitha (Tobitha) MOORE. They were married in SC, probably, Greenville Co, moved to Cobb Co, GA, & were in Paulding Co. I know not where Martin & Tabitha died & are buried. Jerry & Martha lost children to death, but I don't know if they died & are buried in Paulding or Carrol Co. Jerry was in the Civil War & surrendered at Appomattox. He was a musician, playing the flute, fife, & fiddle. If you know anything about this family, please let me know. Thanks.

Gail, I am replying to the list rather than to you personally in the hope that if you can't connect or even if you can, perhaps some other list member will be able to also. The earliest BAILEY we have info on is her father, John Mannon BAILEY who was in Edwardsville, Cleburne Co AL when he married Caldonia's mother Martha Emiline EDWARDS. The third son, Louis B BAILEY lived in Jefferson Co AL and is buried in Cullman Co AL. Please let me know if any of these people ring a bell with you. These include ALLEN, ADAMS, BARNES, BAILEY, BUFFORD, COX, PENTECOST, RIGGS, Beall, DAVENPORT, KOLB, KINGSBERY, and others. Another related project I am researching is identification of the Confederate Veterans of families that immigrated to Central America following the War Between The States. Some of which were from Carroll county, neighboring counties, and the states of Alabama, Tennessee, and Kentucky. I have a home page titled "Confederados of Honduras," located at http://personal.msy.bellsouth.net/~csmcerjr/index.htm Thanks, Woody Coleman 919 Leontine street New Orleans, La. 70115
