    1. [GACARROL-L] Lucy (CHRISTIAN) SHELNUT - corrected line
    2. I figured this is the best way to reach all the other descendants of Lucy Jane CHRISTIAN, b. 1819 in Elbert Co. GA to William and Sarah CHRISTIAN. She was the wife of Nathaniel SHELNUT of Carroll Co. GA (and other places). A couple of years ago I had found Lucy's obituary, which listed the names of her parents and that she was born in Elbert Co. GA. I "met" several other CHRISTIAN researchers who told me that her parents were William Payne CHRISTIAN and Sarah MAXWELL. The evidence was pretty convincing, but not conclusive. I always tried to qualify my research when I shared it with others, but sometimes it didn't always come across as a "maybe". Well, now it turns out that there was another William and Sarah CHRISTIAN in Elbert Co. GA. They were William B. CHRISTIAN (whose lineage is suspected, but not known conclusively) and Sarah H[odgkin?] POSEY. These are the parents of Lucy Jane and her twin sister Eliza Frances. The POSEY line has been researched rather well and goes back to Charles Co. MD and to France. So, I am sorry to lose the MAXWELL line but now there is a whole new world of possibilities for me and my "cousins" out there!! So, let's get our heads together and figure out William B. CHRISTIAN's lineage!! If anyone has any questions about this, please feel free to contact me. Vickie Elam White

    1. [GACARROL-L] Jackson County, Georgia Cemeteries
    2. Belinda & Dave Savadge
    3. Hi, I have had a lot of questions and responses about the Jackson County, GA. Cemeteries. One of the main questions is how will this one be different. Here are my plans: 1. Mine will be an updated one (a lot of people have died in the last 20 years). 2. Mine will have pictures of the churches (if no church is there it will a picture of what the cemetery looks like. 3. I will include the church histories, along with founding members. 4. There are some cemeteries that are not in the old book, I am still looking for others. 5. I maybe include pictures of old or unusual stones. 6. I will include all unmarked graves. Any that are unmarked that I can find out who is buried there will be included. 7. Mine will include directions to the cemeteries and maybe maps. The maps in the old book are very hard to follow (I have heard this from others). I do not own this book and have only seen it once several years ago. I am still not sure how I am going to publish it yet. I may have to do it in sections if it gets too big. I am still working on this project, so it will take a while since I am doing this all myself. Thank you to everyone that has sent positive responses and encouragement. I really do appreciate it. Hope this answers your questions. Best Regards, Belinda savadge@alltel.net

    1. [GACARROL-L] Jackson County, Georgia Cemeteries
    2. Belinda & Dave Savadge
    3. Hi, I am in the process of transcribing the Jackson County, Georgia Cemeteries for a book I plan on publishing. At the moment I am working on Prospect United Methodist Church, it is located at the Jackson County and Clarke County lines. I am also getting the church histories. Prospect dates back to the 1780's. It is a very neat cemetery. It has some very old and somewhat unique markers, a crypt or tomb, iron fences. I have not finished this cemetery yet. I am also told there in a slave cemetery located in the woods behind the church. I am trying to identify the unmarked graves in this cemetery. There are quite a few. Some are marked with plies of rocks, some with a field stone, a wooded cross, or whatever someone could find. If anyone has any ancestors buried in this cemetery in an unmarked grave could you please contact me. I would really like to identify as many unmarked graves in Jackson County as I can. I have found several people who have family buried here in unmarked and they were able to show where in the cemetery their families are buried and what their name were. I would really appreciate information on these unmarked graves. Thank you. Best Regards, Belinda savadge@alltel.net

    1. [GACARROL-L] CHRISTIAN-POSEY, Elbert Co. GA
    2. I'm looking for information on Sarah H. POSEY, daughter of Thomas POSEY, and her possible husband, William B. CHRISTIAN. They lived in Elbert Co. GA. I don't know yet where they were supposedly married or where Sarah was born, though. William and Sarah lived in Newton Co. GA in 1830 and soon after that were in Fayette Co. GA. I possibly descend from their daughter, Lucinda Jane CHRISTIAN, who married Nathaniel SHELLNUT in Fayette Co. GA in 1839. They eventually moved to Bowdon, Carroll Co. GA. Lucinda and her twin sister Eliza Frances were born in Elbert Co. GA on 2 Nov 1819. Eliza Frances married Barney WESTBROOK in Fayette Co. GA in 1837. They may have had a sister named Elizabeth who married Samuel COPELAND and a brother named John who supposedly lived in the Sandusky OH area during the Civil War years. Has anyone ever come across this family? Vickie Elam White

    2. Belinda & Dave Savadge
    3. Hi Listers, This obit. is the one for my own Uncle that I just now found in Monday's newspaper. The sad part is, is that none of my sisters nor I was informed of this death. One of my sisters only lived about 7 miles from him and I lived about 11 miles from him. His funeral was held Monday and I did not see his obit. until early this morning. It is very sad that we did not get to attend his funeral. Our own father (this is his brother that died) did not even inform us of his death. My father only lives about 10 miles from me. My father did attend the funeral. So here is his obit. that was in the paper and at the end of the obit. I will add what information I have. Quill's parents were William Aze McPHERSON, Sr. and Daisy May CLARK. Daisy died sometime around 1935 and is buried in Warsaw Cemetery. William Aze died sometime around 1960 in Sand Mountain, AL. He is buried there. After Daisy died, William Aze loaded up his children (the 4 boys) and deposited them at different family members homes. He then left town. He later went to Sand Mountain, AL. William Aze McPHERSON was born 1888 in GA. He was first married to Minnie Ellen TOLBERT. William and Minnie had 4 girls: Azzie married a HARRISON Mertle married James CAMPBELL Clara May married a BATES Edna born 1915 married Marvin ROZAR William Aze and Minnie divorced (actually I think he deserted the family). 3. Bob and Jane CAMPBELL Genealogy Surfer and Scout Leader When Bob and Jane Campbell's Dekalb County residence burst into flames Thursday morning, the blaze took both residents' lives and destroyed the house, except for Mr. Campbell's office. That room, which housed the family Bible and the genealogical history that had been Mr. Campbell's passion, was untouched, said the couple's daughter, Eloise Ragsdale of Decatur. "He had everything in there, all our reports cards from grade school, everything, " she said. This is just one of those strange things, as strange as it taking both of them together." The joint funeral for Robert C. Campbell Sr., 74, and Jane H. Campbell, 72, both of Atlanta, is 2 p.m. today (Monday, April 12, 1999) at H.M> Patterson & Sons, Spring Hill. Despite the assistance of neighbors, Mr. Campbell, a retired embalmer and funeral director with H.M> Patterson Y Son, died on the lawn of this residence, collapsing while trying to get help for his wife. Mrs. Campbell, a mental health nurse retired from DeKalb Medical Center, suffered from a degenerative bone disorder that made movement difficult, said her daughter. She died in her bedroom. Chattanooga natives, the Campbells met while attending neighboring single-sex high schools. they married in 1846 and moved to Atlanta when Mrs. Campbell was accepted at the Emory University School of Nursing. Mrs. Campbell served as camp director of a Girl Scout camp at what is now Fernbank Science Center and at Camp Timber Ridge in Mableton, said her daughter. In 1965, she was awarded the Thanks Medal for her service to the Girl Scouts. Mr. Campbell retired in 1988 and spent his time caring for his wife and researching genealogy on the Web. He was working on a family history and had traced his ancestors back to Paris in 1753. "He kept up with a small circle of friends, but looking after Mom sort of limited his social outings," said Mrs. Ragsdale. "So he bought himself a computer and practically lived on it. It'll take us the next five years to go through his history." The couple had both served as presidents of the Oak Grove and Heritage schools PTAs and were communicants at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church. Survivors other than their daughter include another daughter, Becky Beagle of Avondale Estates; a son, Bert Campbell of Cumming; and three grandchildren. Mr. Campbell is survived by a sister, Martha Spencer of Emporia, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that contributions be made to Nicholas House at St. Bartholomew's, 1790 LaVista Road N.E., Atlanta, GA. 30329. South Temple , Suite 4 Salt Lake City , UT 84111 website ; www.censusmicrofilm.com e-mail ; gme@nwinfo.net and ; sj@censusmicrofilm.com I was lured to order several microfilm copies from this company with "guarantees" of "speedy delivery" and "low price" . My order was placed in October of 1998 and as of this posting I have not received the order or a refund after numerous contacts with Steven Jensen at this firm . In his occasional replies he repeatedly gave false information to me as to the status of the order and cashed the check when mentioned stopping payment on it .I have copies of all documents and correspondences for those interested . Complaints have been filed with the Better Business Bureau and the United States Postal Inspectors , they have informed me that even they can't order this company to give a refund , but may seek criminal charges . I guess small claims court is next . If you are seeking genealogy resources......consider my experiences with this "Firm". 3. I am interested in any info in re William and Mary (Orr) Bryce/Brice, my gggg/Grandparents. They arrived in Carrol County c 1827 and William was extremely active in civic affairs. A son, Joseph, is listed as head of the household in the 1840 census and there are two older people with him, a female between 60 and 70 years old and a male between 70 and 80 in Militia District 649, Land District 6. It is strongly assumed that this is William and Mary. In the Carrol County Tax Digest 1842, another son, James, is listed as "exc est of William Brice dec". Would anyone know of any churches that would have been in existance during the period of time from 1827 thru 1842? They would have kept records of deaths, and burial sites.
