Benjamin is listed on the 1830 census as being between 20 and 30 years old, so I'm assuming this is the correct Benjamin. There is only one early Lightfoot-Phillip, but he would have to have been maybe a grandfather to Benj. In English Crown Grants Phillip states he has a wife, 6 children, and 2 slaves. He applied for 200 acres near Duhart's Creek, next to John Taylor in Oct. 1769. In June 1770 it was granted. He was also granted land twice in Burke Co. in 1787. On the 1798 Tax Digest we find Phillip, and have added Jesse and Bersheba.Jesse may be a son, and Bersheba a dau. or dau-in-law for a deceased son. Phillip and Bersheba are also listed as slave owners in 1798.On the 1805 register for the land lottery, we find Phillip, Sr., Sherod, Phillip Jr., Richard, and John's orphans. There are 4 of the 6 children we know existed. John was married to Bersheba. William Lightfoot won land in the 1820 land lottery. He was probably a grandchild of Phillip. Lightfoot's orphans won land in Irwin Co. in the 1820 land lottery. (Bersheba was probably either remarried or dead since she wasn't listed on the 1805 register-every elligible person was.) On the 1821 land lottery John won land in Monroe Co., and Lucretia won land in Henry Co. On the 1832 Gold lottery, Benjamin won land in Lee co. I'm going to list 1820 Census and see if we can find some children listed that would be Benjamin's age.( it seems the only family on the 1820 is Phillip's.I believe this is Phillip Jr. ) Lightfoot , Phillip: males, 1- under 10, 1- 10 to under 16, 1- 16 to under 18, 2- 16 to under 26, 1-45 or older. females, 2- under 10, 1- 25 to under 45. So Phillp Jr. has 5 sons and 2 dau.s 1830 census: Benjamin: males, 1- under 5, 1- 20 to under 30. females, 2- under 5, 1- 5 to under 10, 1- 20 to under 30. I've searched the 1830 for additional Lightfoots and there are none. So there is a good chance that Phillip is Benjamin's father. This is not conclusive though, as he could have been one of John and Bersheba's orphans. If she remarried, she wouldn't be listed as a Lightfoot . On the 1840 there is only Carolass: Carolass: males, 1- under 5, 5- 5 to under 10, 1-30 to under 40. females, 1- under 5, 1- 15 to under 20, 1- 30 to under 40. Carolss would be in Benjamin's age group. Since there are only a few lightfoots on 1850, I'll list them: # 704, Carolus 45 m B. Ga.
