A more concise (than the War of the Rebellion volumes) look at Confederate units can be found in the "Compendium of the Confederate Armies" by Stewart Sifakis. It is a 7? volume set, treating all the units from each CSA state. For each military unit the book gives its commanders, campaigns, and battle engagements. Probably one to two pages per unit only. This book gives a quick look at a unit, while the War of the Rebellion books give great detail. Nancy Mann
