    2. Dear Judy, We lost your address and, as previously discussed, we share Martha Ann Johnson (as our great great grandmother, too!). This is through Mary Anne Herrington - her daughter on the Herrington side. We visited Sardis, GA but lost your phone number, name and address. We had intented to visit with you at that time. There are other records, pictures, etc. that are available but the person in Sardis refused to let us have them. Please get in touch. It is possible there is something that we have that may be of interest to you. Please email us directly so that we may exchange telephone numbers and other information thnk1@aol.com. Look forward to hearing from you. Sherry Dortch

    3. Diane; Hi, just got around to my messages today. I don't have the names you mentioned, but I just started my research. It does seem more than coincidence that there are Burke's and Hurst's in our family lines. My husband is the Hurst, and he stated they were from Millen, Munnerlyn and Savannah. I found a second cousin of his through the Genforum web site. Her name is Vrtreena Jenkins, she has done far more extensive research than I have. She might have those names. Her e-mail address is goldenocean@hotmail.com. Did you post a message at Genforum? along time ago? I would love to exchange information with you, my number is 757-493-7462. Looking forward to hearing from you. Barbara

    1. Re: census 1830-1850
    2. Barbara, The list I sent is all I have, unless you want white families also. I already checked for "free persons of color", but did not find any Hursts. The 1820-1840 censuses list only the head of household's name. It does not list the names of the spouse, children, or slaves, but if you want these, I'll send them to you. They do list sex and age. I have only a few pages for the 1860 and 1870 censuses-I only copied the ones that had the names I was researching on them. I will dig them up and see if there are any Hursts. Will let you know if I find anything else. Sheryl

    2. Sorry Steve, The children are sometimes named, but not this time. Have you thought of old church records? I've gotten clues from them before, but I have only a few pages from a couple of churches, and the copies are almost illegible. I do know I haven't seen any Letts or Lotts. If you have access to the Ga. State Archives in Atlanta, they have some Bible records, and church records on microfilm. It's just a thought. Good Luck and Happy Holidays, Sheryl

    3. Bless you Sheryl. We have info that Mills was in the area as early as 1804, but 1802 makes it a little nicer. We have also been trying to connect Joshua and West, without success at this point.... Interesting, that you mention Early County. When Mills died in 1825, he had land in Early....might be a connection there! Again, ever so grateful. Pat
