I am transcribing a handwritten 1808 Document from Bulloch County which contains a line, "His Excellency ?J---d? George? and the Great Seal of Said State" In-as-much-as 1808 was after the Revolutionary War, I would not think it was referring to George, King of England, therefore it must mean some Governor, or other State/County Official...the document also mentions the 32nd year of the Independence of the United States...as further evidence it does not mean King George of England. Would anyone with Georgia' History Books be able to help me identify the correct name...
