Kindred Johnson was the son of John and Margaret Johnson. A deed has been found that mentions John Johnson and his son Kindred Johnson. John Johnson was born about 1792 probably in Bulloch County, Georgia and died December 11, 1865 probably in Emanuel County. Part of Bulloch County was cut off to form Emanuel County. Margaret was born about 1795 and died October 17, 1883 probably in Emanuel County. John and Margaret Johnson are buried in a small Johnson family cemetery now in Jenkins County, Georgia. The following is a list of Johnsons that were probably some of John and Margaret's children. John Johnson 1792-Dec. 11, 1865 Margaret Johnson 1795-Oct. 17, 1883 children? John Johnson was named in the ulloch County Will of William Johnson dated May 7, 1810. The following list of Johnsons were possibly some of the children of William and Delilah Johnson. William Johnson - c1810 Delilah children? James R. Johnson c1789- John Johnson 1792-Dec. 11, 1865 Nancy Johnson William Johnson c1798- Catherine Johnson Nathan Johnson c1805- Patty Johnson James R. Johnson married (Litha?) John Johnson married Margaret (?) William Johnson married (Sophia?) Catherine Johnson married (Nathan Brown?) Nathan Johnson married (Mary?) It is likely that William Johnson was the son of Joseph Johnson from the Buck Swamp-Temperance Hill area of the Old Cheraws District in South Carolina. An area that is now mostly in northern Marion County and a bit in southern Dillon County, South Carolina. This was a family of the following brothers and sisters: Elizabeth (b. ca 1758, married Joseph Hardeman); Joseph; David (married Martha Hardeman); William; John; Isham; Samuel; and Benjamin. All went to Bulloch County, Georgia ca. 1785-95 except Samuel and Benjamin, who, with perhaps another brother (Moses?) and perhaps a sister or two, stayed in the Buck Swamp area of Marion County, South Carolina. The father of the above family was very likely David Johnson (b. ca. 1730-35 and possibly d. before 1790). He was in the militia from the Buck Swamp area 1759-60. The old Cheraws was not settled until the 1730s, so David Johnson may have been born there the son of an early settler or he may have come there from somewhere else in South Carolina, North Carolina or Virginia. I hope this information will help someone. If anyone has additional information on the Johnson family from Emanuel/Bulloch County, Georgia please let me know.
