He married (1) MARY ROBBINS 1743 in Cumberland, NC. He married (2) ELIZABETH HUCKABEE 1750 in Cumberland, NC. She died Aft. 1774. Notes for FRANCIS JONES: Francis Jones emigrated from England to Isle of Wight, Virginia between 1730-1735. He lived on Mulberry Island until he moved to Cumberland County, NC some time before 1750. He was a successful planter of means. About 1765 Francis sold his land in North Carolina and moved to Saint Matthews Parrish, GA which later became Effingham and Screven Counties. Francis Jones' will was dated 10 March 1774 and probated 30 March 1774. (The will is now housed in the State Department of Archives & History) It is noted in some sources that the first three of Francis Jones' children may possibly have been the product of his first marriage rather than the second. At the dawning of the Revolutionary War he was commissioned First Lieutenant of the 2nd Battalion, 1st Regiment of the upper District of St Matthews Parish in the Georgia Militia.
