Lived in PA, VA, SC and GA. Served in Revolutionary War from SC and received Royal Grant of land 21 Feb 1772. Granted 200 acres in Bulloch (Effingham) County, GA as bounty for servicein 1784. He moved his family there in 1785. One of the wealthiest and most influential citizens of that section of GA. Had 12 children by first wife and one daughter by second wife.

Melton as published in the GJ (presumably Georgia Journal) 11/10/1818. Did they move to Marion County, GA? Did they have a son names WILLIAM M. BROWN who was a col. in the War of Northern Agression?
