    3. Hello Al, HAPPY EASTER to you all too. I can't thank you enough for replying to my e-mail. I have been looking for information on my family for quite awhile. As I said in my query I sent, I was born in Savannah, but have been gone since the 50's, except for visits. My Mom lived there until her death in 1989. We spent a week in Effingham Co. last summer on an RV trip, but only had a day at the library in Statesboro. My Mom was born and raised in Egypt, Effingham Co. and that is where my G.Grandfather Thomas Absalom Dutton had his land, he married Eugenia Natilia Foy, daughter of George Washington Foy and Ann Rebecca Dasher. I was thrilled to see that Sarah Hagan's father was named Absalom as that was both my Grandfathers name and his father. I always asked Mom where it came from and she said it was a name out of the bible. When we were in Bullock last summer we found the cemetery where some of the Duttons/Hagans are buried and I copied the dates & took photos. Henry Dutton & his wife 1st wife,Mary Ann Wilson (I have been given that as her last name)are buried in the New Hope Methodist Cemetery, in Bullock, other family members also. Henry died June 27, 1851 and Mary was b: in January 1800 and died February 10, 1843. Apparently after Mary's death he married again to Ann Cocks on February 6, 1845. So far I have been unable to find a death date for Samuel Dutton and his wife Sarah Hagan, or any idea where they are buried. My G.Grandfather as I said was : Thomas Absalom Dutton b: June 28, 1846, Bullock Co.,GA. d: August 30, 1875, Marlow, Effingham co.GA. He married Eugenia Natilia Foy b: November 18, 1848 in Egypt, Effingham Co., d: July 9, 1910, Egypt.GA. She married TA Dutton on September 3, 1870 in Bullock Co. she was the daughter of George Washington Foy and Ann Rebecca Dasher. They are all buried in the Foy Cemetery, now known as the Elam Baptist Cemetery, the road was called Dutton Lane, as the old home still stands just past the cemetery. The name was changed sometime in 1980. GWFoy gave the land for the cemetery. Thomas & Eugenia had 3 children: Sarah Ella Dutton b.August 5, 1872, d: September 13, 1882 buried at Elam Baptist Cemetery. My grandfather Thomas Absalom Dutton b: April 1, 1875 in Egypt, he d: October 27, 1929 in Egypt. He was married to Mattie Carroll Fryar of Magnolia, Duplin co.NC. They also had another son that died date unknown and is also buried in the cemetery next to his parents. My G.Grandfather TA Dutton was in the CSA, enlisted May 6, 1862 and was mustered into the 54th Infantry, CO I, he was present December 31, 1863 and no other military records after that. He was also a Mason, I have been unable to find out which lodge. My Grandfather TA Dutton was also a Mason and Master of Egypt Lodge #440, in Springfield, later changed to Springfield Lodge #440 in 1929. My Grandfather served as the Sec. between 1902-1911 Was Worshipful Master from 1912-1917. This information I received from the Grand Lodge of GA. My mother was Eugenia Rebecca Dutton and she was born in Egypt, attended school there, went to Brewton-Parker , after graduation in 1922, she returned to Egypt and taught school in the Egypt Academy, after her marriage to my father Magnus Theodore Otto Monson of Savannah. I will send you my family genealogical report by another e-mail. Again thanks and I probably will be asking for your help in the future. Jackie Purdy, Shingle Springs, CA.
